ClimbHI seeks to inspire students to finish high school and proceed to post-secondary educations or employment by educating them about future career paths and the process necessary to achieve those goals. 

ClimbHI has been developed to seek community support to sustain education for students through real-life exposure. Students will be able to pick areas of interest and visit businesses and entities in that field for a guided experience of the operation, the opportunities available, and the requirements to take advantage of the opportunities in the future, all conducted by volunteer professionals from those specific businesses and institutions and ClimbHI. The goal is to take ClimbHi’s sustainable model nationwide, but the initial focus will be on Hawaii.

11th Annual LEI Program on Maui - March 28, 2023
Opportunity Description:

On March 28, 2023, ClimbHI and the Maui County will kick off the 11th annual LEI program on Maui. LEI is a project to inspire Hawaiʻi’s youth to select careers in the Hawaiʻi visitor industry by providing them with the necessary means to achieve success. From the student’s perspective LEI represents an opportunity for Leadership, Exploration, and Inspiration, and from the hospitality industry’s perspective LEI provides an opportunity to Lead, Expose, and Inspire Hawaiʻi’s youth. LEI 2023 will take place on four different islands (Maui, Oʻahu, Kauaʻi, and the Big Island), include 1,000 high school and college students from across the state, and involve over 100 businesses.

Maui’s program invites all Maui County public high schools to participate. The day will consist of the following:

9:15am-10:30am: Fairmont Kea Lani- Leadership and inspiration through guest speakers and Hawaiian culture/sense of place trainings

10:45am-2pm:  Wailea hotel visit- Students will be divided into groups and sent to different hotels for an overview of the hotel industry including a dining etiquette piece for lunch.

2pm-3:30pm: Students return to Fairmont Kea Lani for a speed-dating style career fair to expose them to the variety of roles in the hospitality industry and post-secondary education opportunities.

Here is an overview of the event, requirements, and next steps to secure your spot:

  • Location: Fairmont Kea Lani
  • A bus will be provided for each confirmed school with a capacity of 20 students and 2 teachers maximum. Please plan for alternates accordingly to maximize capacity.
  • Bus pick-ups will depend on your location and will start from 8:15am with returns starting at 3:30pm through 5pm.  We will provide you with specific pick-up and drop-off times when your spot is confirmed.
  • Participation will be confirmed on a first come, first serve basis on ClimbHI Bridge.  

 

Submit your request including the capacity you will be fulfilling with 20 as the maximum including 2 educators.
