The NOAA Inouye Regional Center welcomes school field trips and government-sponsored tours. Public tours are not available at this time. Tours can last from 1 to 2.5 hours and can be customized depending on the needs of the group. School Group Booking Process
- Tours are designed for 5th grade, but 4th grade and up are welcome.
- Tours are held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, lasting 2.5 to 3 hours.
- Submit request at least 2 months in advance to allow for confirmation, as the NOAA facility is on a military base.
- Submit a request for visits starting January 2026, and at least 2 months in advance.
Other Reminders
- Closed-toe shoes (no crocs) are required to enter lab spaces or board a NOAA ship.
The National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration, or NOAA, is a scientific agency of the federal government whose mission is to understand and predict changes in climate, weather, ocean, and coasts, to share that knowledge and information with others, and to conserve and manage coastal and marine ecosystems and resources. The Inouye Regional Center, located on a national historic landmark site on Oahu’s Ford Island, or Moku‘ume‘ume, is NOAA's Pacific Region headquarters that integrates the mission of “science, service, and stewardship” with regional culture and ecology.
