A Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst position is available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands, to be assigned at Schofield Barracks, HI, in support for the US Army Sustainable Range Program (SRP)/Integrated Training Area Management (ITAM) program, Range Division Hawaii.
As training lands for the Army are not contiguous, geographic data will be managed for both the Island of Oahu and the Island of Hawaii US Army lands.
Schofield Barracks is located on the Island of Oahu.
Required Qualifications:
• BS Degree from an accredited college or university in Geography, Natural Resources or closely related field with GIS course work.
• Demonstrated proficiency in maintaining and developing GIS datasets and metadata; includes editing, updating, and transforming data into specific formats and schemas to include file geodatabases, personal geodatabases and shapefiles.
• Demonstrated skills in performing editing, analysis, metadata, data management, map creation, and other geoprocessing functions using ESRI ArcPRO 2.x software.
• Proficiency capturing data from various sources and incorporating into GIS geodatabases through use of digitization, coordinate geometry, aerial photos, LiDAR data, GPS, and scanned documents. Experience collecting field Global Positioning System (GPS) data and post-processing data for use in ArcGIS utilizing Trimble or similar software and hardware.
• Experience providing technical support and training in use of ESRI software.
• Experience with operating personal computer workstations and standard software packages, including extensive experience with Excel.
• Experience developing, organizing, collecting and analyzing GPS data by navigating wooded and rugged environments either in a vehicle or on foot across uneven terrain. Data collection may involve daylong outdoor work.
• Ability to write clearly and effectively.
• Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license by the employment start date.
• The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by proposed start date; CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
