The HCRI Harbor Research Support Assistant will work with the DLNR Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR).

Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Social Science Research Institute (SSRI). Primary work location will be at the Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR), located in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.
MONTHLY SALARY: $3,416.67/Mon.
DUTIES: Researches requirements for applications and other documents. Examines materials to identify gaps or errors and works with DOBOR staff to resolve errors. Compiles and maintains a log of activities. Helps to review and assist with reports. Submits applications to division staff for review and further processing. Assists with identifying gaps in training materials. Documents administrative obstacles. Records observations, notes, and data and shares with process improvement research staff. Evaluates current account tracking documents. Performs account balancing. Examines online account and internal ledger and ensures that they match. Researches division regulations to assist with inquiries from the public or guide them to appropriate resources or contacts. Examines filing system, anticipates organization needs, and deposits documents in their proper locations to promote efficient, consistent management of and access to data and files. Assists staff with locating documents.
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: One to three (1-3) years of office or clerical experience.
KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of clerical work (e.g., filing). Working knowledge of business writing to include grammar, punctuation, spelling, and diction.
ABILITIES & SKILLS: Proficient in oral and written communication. Proficient with computers, including familiarity with programs, such as word processing and spreadsheet software needed to execute duties, or the ability to learn to use computers and requisite applications. Must be highly organized. Ability to compile, assimilate, organize, and store printed and electronic information. Ability to review and analyze information in preparation for report development. Ability to check work for accuracy before completion of tasks. Ability to work efficiently and effectively to meet multiple, frequent, and short notice deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. Ability to build and maintain ongoing, collaborative, working relationships with coworkers to achieve the goals of the work unit. Post Offer/Employment Conditions: Must be able to complete the UH Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) within two (2) weeks from date of hire, and re-certify every twelve (12) months.

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:
At least one (1) year of related program support work experience involving business operations or similar complex processes. Experience documenting observations or taking notes.
