Kalahaku Native Plant Restoration Project is on a private 2-acre farm in Kahaluʻu on the Windward side of Oahu. Since 2016, this project has been eradicating invasive species and planting native trees, shrubs, and groundcovers as part of its overall agro-forestry efforts.

Job description
- Assist with and manage native plant restoration and agricultural projects
- Eradicate invasive plant species on slopes, stream banks, and in ponds
- Create and maintain trails on slopes
- Plant and maintain native groundcovers, trees, shrubs, and vegetative barriers as well as fruit trees, kalo, and ornamentals
- Develop and maintain soil health
- Propagate plants
- Fertilize trees as needed
- Use organic pest control products and methods
- Prune shrubs and trees as needed
Desired knowledge and experience
- Soil health and supplementation
- Use of organic fertilizers and pest control
- Propagation, planting, pruning
- Familiarity with Native Hawaiian plant species
- Tropical agriculture and local plants, trees, and crops
Other requirements for successful applicant
- Able to work independently and also work well with others
- Attentive and able to communicate clearly
- Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Must have own transportation (Location is not on the bus line)
- No drugs, alcohol, or smoking on the premises
